The Gods of the Kingdom

Anerev, Goddess of Learning and Justice. Portrayed as a tall, dignified beautiful woman. Can take the form of an owl or a human sage of either sex. Worshipped throughout Nether World especially in university towns such as Altschlag and Nuln. Private shrines found in homes of diplomats and academics. Friendly with most other cults of the Old World. Cult of Querki the Protector is tolerated, unlike his other aspects. Holy days occur on the first day of each year. Minor days at beginning of each month and each week.

Percunio, God of Merchants, Prosperity and Trade. Often appears as a plump, prosperous, middle-aged merchant. Known as Handrich in Kingdom, Affairiche in Bertagne, Mercopio in Tilea, O Prospero in Ispenia and Kalita in Bolshov. Outlawed in Saudi who see him as a usurper. On good terms with most Nether World cults. Disproves of Querki the Dealer though some worship him too to give them luck in dealings. Marktag is a common worship day.

Mordich, Lord of Murder. Usually appears as a fanged squatting being with four arms each holding a dagger. Elder brother is Mortis. Mordich is worshipped by most footpads and violent criminals. Worshipped in great numbers in Saudi by secret sects. He is an enemy of all that is considered good He has no special holy days as any day is as good as any for murder.

Aqu, God of the Seas. Usually appears as a huge, powerfully built man, wearing a spiked crown of black iron. Can also take the form of a whirlpool or sea-monster. He is the son of Rungrin and Rueni. Worshipped widely throughout the Nether World by fishermen and sailors. On friendly terms with those of his father Rungrin, Rueni and his father's brother Strom. Holy days occur during and around the spring equinox or festivals at the turn of spring and neap tides.

Mortis, God of Death. Ruler of the Underworld. Usually appears as a tall aristocratic man with a brooding aspect. He guides the spirits of the dead to his realm. Also capable of conjuring great illusions and dreams. Few worship him in his other aspect as God of Dreams. Friendly with the major cults of the Nether World. Principal enemies are Necromancers but there is a rivalry with Querki. He has no special holy days and is only worshipped at funerals and on similar occasions.

Jupita, Goddess of War. Daughter of Anerev and Mortis. Portrayed as a tall, beautiful woman equipped in style of the soldiers of the southern Nether World. Neutral. Most popular in southern Nether World, especially Tilea and Ispenia. Worshipped by many soldiers that do not follow Strom. Friendly with those of her parents and her sister Shayal. Dislike followers of Strom and openly hostile to followers of Querki. She has no special days though it is common to make sacrifices before and after battles.

Querki, God of Thieves and Tricksters. The Deceiver. Portrayed as a charming human male. Does not condone violent crime. Worshipped throughout the Nether World's larger towns and cities. He is worshipped as the 'Night Prowler' by thieves, the 'Deceiver' by charlatans, the 'Gamester' by gamblers, and the 'Protector' for those fighting official tyranny. Enemies are authorities and violent criminals. Friends are non-violent rogues and entertainers. He has no formal holy days.

Shayal, Goddess of Healing and Mercy. Daughter of Anerev and Mortis. Portrayed as a young beautiful maiden, whose eyes are perpetually welling with tears. Can take the form of a white dove. Worshipped throughout Nether World, predominantly by women who believe she protects against miscarriages and the pain of childbirth. Friendly with most other Nether World cults but dislikes Strom. Disproves of Querki and hates Buellog, God of Disease and Decay. No specific holy days. It is customary to make a sacrifice each year on anniversary of her birth.

Ramgis, Patron Deity of the Kingdom. Ramgis is portrayed as a big muscular, bearded man with long blond hair. He carries a two-handed Dwarven Skullcleaver. Ramgis is dominant in the Kingdom though his worship is challenged in the Stroman city of Middeneifel. Outside the Kingdom his worshippers are few and far between. Friendly relations with Dwarf cults, especially Grondel, neutral towards other cults. Dislike followers of Strom. Holy days occur on the first day of summer when Ramgis was crowned King and the day of his abdication.

Squalord, The Shark, Lord of the Raging Sea. Depicted as an enraged Aqu or a great shark. He is god of the dangers of the sea. Worshipped along the coasts of the Old World and great rivers but relatively unknown elsewhere. Enemies are the Gods of Havoc and some Aqu priests. Holy days occur on Mitterfruhl (spring equinox) and are held sacred as start of hunting season. Also the autumn equinox for the start of the storm season.

Rungrin, God of Nature and Wild Places. Portrayed as a powerfully built man with long, wild hair dressed in animal skins, and wearing the skull of a great stag as a helmet. Can take the form of a great bison or bear. Worship strongest in north and east of Nether World, especially in the Kingdom. People reliant on the natural world worship Rungrin (farmers, hunters and trappers). On friendly terms with Strom, Aqu and Ancient Ways. Loathes the forces of Havoc. Some antipathy with Elves as nature roles overlap occasionally. Spring equinox, marks rebirth of nature and is considered one of the holiest days. Holy days of Strom are kept as minor festivals.

Strom, God of Battle, Wolves and Winter. Portrayed as a massive barbarian warrior wearing a wolf-skin cloak. Despises weakness and cowardice. He expects courage from his followers. Worship strongest in the north of the Kingdom but is popular in other parts of Nether World, especially among warriors. No close relations with other cults except with some Druids. Loathes Querki and dislikes Ramgis. Autumn equinox, winter solstice, spring equinoxes are the main holy days. Holy days are spent holding military parades and huge bonfires.

Ancient Ways is the oldest religion in the Nether World, worshipped by Druids. Its practices revolve around worshipping nature and natural forces. Worship is strongest in the north and west of Nether World. Has strong links in rural areas. Many Rangers follow the Ancient Ways. Indifferent with the other Nether World cults. Has a strong relation with Rungrin, the husband of Rueni. Summer and winter solstices, and spring and autumn equinoxes are considered the Holy days of the Ancient Ways. Lesser holy days associated with full and new moons.
