The King and Council
An overall council of five people governs the Kingdom. From these five, a King is elected, one who casts the deciding vote and has the final command in the decisions made. The council is broken down into various councillors, the councillors holding these positions for many years. Their positions are often dictated by the cities they govern personally, for each councillor is the elected leader of one of the great cities of the Kingdom. As is common in politics, alliances are made inside the council, which have, in the past lead to political arguments and even civil war. It is spoken in quiet circles that the council hold too much of the power in the Kingdom, and as such there has been frequent uprisings amongst the citizens of the realms.
The current King is a just and fair one, who distinguished himself on numerous occasions during the recent incursion by the forces of Havoc. Though now in his later years, he is loved greatly by the citizens of the Kingdom, and respected by the council he leads.
As mentioned, the King is in the twilight of his years, and the fear amongst the people is for another power struggle between his successors, and with the Kingdom in near ruin in places, another incident such as the Time of the Three Kings could spell disaster.
Of the known realms in the World the Kingdom only has open relations with Bretange and Bolshov. Though the closer realms such as Ispenia and Tilea are known and were traded with in the past, the recent hardships have meant the Kingdom has little time to visit or have open trade with these countries.
In ages past, when the inhabitants of these further realms left the Kingdom, they lost the protection and support of the Kingdom. As such the kingdom's borders have changed little since the time of its creation, though the realms of Man have expanded to all corners of the compass.
