Quick Start Guide

This page has been designed to give you the enough information to quickly get you on your way to playing in the realm of Kingdom of Heroes.

If you have not done so already you will need to Download our client software.

Instructions for Play
To connect to the game just log onto the internet and then start up the program (which will be a short cut on your desktop and available from the start menu).

Wander about join the adventurers guild, explore the city of Wolfhold, kill greenskins, buy a mount to ride about on and generally heroic things.

When you start please type HELP to read through the simple help system that's installed on the game.

Getting Started
Some basic commands to help out would be adventurers include:

WHO (to see who else is in the land)

SAY <your text> (e.g., SAY hello) to speak to someone in the SAME room.

TELL <player name> <your text> (e.g., TELL Ramgis Hello) To speak to people in other rooms.

LOOK (to look about)

I (short for inventory, lists your equipment)

STATS (to show your stats about your character, and show what room you're in)

The game operates on short commands, GET BAG, REMOVE HELM, WEAR ARMOUR, DRINK POTION. So don't go typing "put my helm on my head" as the game won't have a clue what you are asking it to do.

Combat
If you find yourself in combat with creatures try:

AD (short for ADVANCE) to get near the creature

A (short for ATTACK) to hit the creature (you have to KEEP typing this every few seconds)

RE (short for RETREAT!) to try and run away

If you get killed try the command DIE to reset your character and have another go at the game.

Starting Off
What you should do when you start:

1. Find the Adventurers Guild, it should be NORTH of where you started
2. Go in the guild and find the SHOP, check your equipment (I) and see if you need to buy anything better. type GOLD to check your current gold on you.
3. Find the training combat area, go in and beat the living hell out of the training beasts.
4. When you are feeling brave find the training NPC's and have a go at the training quests.
5. Go out of the training area and head into town, find a few NPC's and talk to them (use GREET to speak to them)
6. Talk in more detail with DISCUSS <topic> (e.g. DISCUSS ORCS). Pick topics you think the NPC will know about - there are clues in the text.
7. Try to complete a quest, find what an NPC wants and then HOLD it in your hands and type OFFER.
8. Talk to other people in the game

There is a good starter dungeon south west of the city (through Storm Hammer gate).

Reporting Bugs and Things

Bugs. If you find a bug or a typo, report it by typing BUG followed by a concise description of what went wrong. Use short sentences, but you can continue your report by starting another BUG line.

Example: BUG The second line says, "thraed" and should be "thread"

or

Example: BUG This quest says it gives me gold but I didn't get any.

General queries. General queries can be posted to the message boards, located at http://boards.kingdomofheroes.com/ , where the game staff will read them.
From time to time the game may crash as updates are loaded in, or bugs fight back. When this happens, we'll know, and we'll be doing our best to get it running again as soon as possible, so there's no need to tell us.
